On February 7, at a meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced measures to develop transport infrastructure.
To increase the share of local freight forwarders in international freight transportation, they were exempted from paying VAT. As a result, the Transportation Ministry is expected to increase their share by 25% this year and 50% by 2026.
Previously, trucks meeting the Euro-5 standard and above were exempted from customs duties and utilization fees from August 2021 to January 1, 2025. The President approved the extension of these benefits for another three years – until 2028.
In addition, Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the responsible agencies together with private airlines to double the number of flights to Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Nukus and Termez, as well as to develop measures to increase the volume of air transportation by at least 20% this year and serve 15 million passengers.
The head of state also emphasized the need to speed up the launch of a modern electric train running between Tashkent, Yangiyul, Chinaz and Syrdarya districts.
